An era ends – Sellanby Discs & Tapes

I was on my way to work this morning and had to stop off at the local post office to pick up a parcel. When I got off at the nearest bus stop, I noticed "closing down" signs on this shop. I was shocked! Sellanby Discs & Tapes was an amazing shop. It has been around ever since I have memories. When I turned in to a vinyl junkie in my teen years, I used to spend many hours at this most unique and interesting shop. They would buy records and tapes (and later CDs) from collectors like me and pay a fair price. They’d sell those same items back to the public for a profit. I have sold Sellandby many hundreds of my CDs and old vinyl records over he years and I’ve also bought a lot of music from here. I guess with the advent of download music and the ease with which music can be pirated, businesses like Sellandby find is very hard to stay afloat unless they themselves diversify in to the online world.

I’ll really miss this shop. It was a part of my growing up years. What a great loss and a great shame 🙁
